KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Dr Yubraj Khatiwada today asked media to disseminate a positive message to build a civilized society.

Assuming the office of the Communications Ministry on Sunday, Minister Khatiwada emphasized the need for taking the activities of the government among the people.

He also stressed the need for collaboration between the media and the government to lead the country towards the path of economic, social and cultural developments.

It should be noted that President Bidya Devi Bhandari had on Thursday entrusted the responsibility of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to Dr Khatiwada on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Oli after Communications Minister Baskota resigned from the post.

Baskota had resigned following the leak of an audiotape in which he was heard demanding commission in the security press purchase process.

Meanwhile, Minister Khatiwada said that some bills related to communications are in the offing.

He, however, maintained that the bills would be brought only after holding ample discussion.
