Biratnagar High Court orders sending Siddha Baba to jail

BIRATNAGAR: Biratnagar High Court on Thursday ordered sending rape-accused Krishna Bahadur Giri, popularly known as Siddha Baba, to jail.

A joint bench of Chief Judge Til Prasad Shrestha and Judge Prem Raj Karki made the order hearing a review petition filed by District Attorney Office, Registrar Jitendra Babu Thapaliya said.

Giri, however, has escaped to India through Jogbani checkpoint before the court made the order. Giri left for the court but escaped to India, police said.

The Sunsari District Court on December 30 had ordered his release on a bail bond of Rs 300,000 following the conclusion of bail-hearing.

Then, the District Attorney Office had filed a review petition at Biratnagar High Court.
