NC to observe Reconciliation Day on December 31

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to observe the National Unity and Reconciliation Day on Poush 16 (December 31).

A meeting of the party’s central committee decided to celebrate the day across the country by organizing various programs as proposed by party President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Deuba’s proposal was unanimously endorsed by the meeting held on Wednesday afternoon.

The party has been observing the 16th day of the Nepali month of Poush as National Unity and Reconciliation Day to mark the return of the NC’s founder BP Koirala and other leaders from exile in India with the proposal of reconciliation with the then King Birendra.

Meanwhile, youth leaders of the party emphasized on organizing nationwide symbolic demonstration against the government’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives.

The main opposition party, NC, has initiated preparation to organize protest program throughout the country against the government’s move.
