Visitors increasing at Hanumandhoka Durbar Square

KATHMANDU: Number of tourists visiting Hanumandhoka Durbar Square has started increasing gradually after eight months.

Domestic and foreign tourists have started visiting the Hanumandhoka Durbar Square after the area has been reopened for visitors.

The Durbar Square was completely closed from the third week of March due to coronavirus infection.

Now, 100 visitors visit the Durbar Square every day. The Number of foreign tourists visiting the area is fewer as compared to domestic ones.

Sandeep Khanal, chief of Hanumandhoka Durbar Square Management Office, said that the number of people visiting the Durbar Square is increasing day by day.

The Hanumandhoka Durbar Square was reopened from November 18.

The Durbar Square used to collect around Rs 120 million annually from entry fee. The Office has determined Rs 100 to each foreign visitor and Rs 30 to Nepali citizen as entry fee.

Similarly, preparation has been made to open the Gaddi Baithak for visitors. The Gaddhi Baithak is the chamber where the enthronement of the then kings used to take place.
