79 persons including 69 army personnel in Kavrepalanchowk test positive for COVID-19

KATHMANDU: As many as 79 persons including 69 army personnel from Birendra Military Training Center in Panchkhal Municipality have been infected with COVID-19.

According to the COVID-19 Prevention and Control Command Post, five persons in Panchkhal-5, a person in Panchkhal-7 and 2 each in Dhulikhel and Banepa municipalities have tested positive for coronavirus.

A PCR test conducted at the Nepal Army Camp Hospital found that 69 soldiers at the training center tested positive for the virus.

Member Secretary of the Post and Head of District Health Office Dr. Narendra Jha and 10 soldiers of the center were found to be have been infected with the virus earlier.

The Nepal Army sends troops to the UN peacekeeping mission with final training at the center.

Earlier, 10 out of 15 battalions of the Armed Police Force in Panchkhal, 22 out of the Nepal Police in the district and eight in the Nepal Army in Dhulikhel had contracted with coronavirus.

Similarly,  541 people have been infected with pandemic virus in the district.

Of the total infected, five have died and 340 have returned home after treatment.

Of the 195 active infected, 132 are being treated in hospital isolation and 63 in home isolation.
