NRNA urges government to create environment for repatriation

KATHMANDU: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has urged the government to create an environment for Non-Resident Nepali (NRA) stranded in different countries due to lockdown for their return.

NRNA President Kumar Pant urged the government to create a conducive environment for their return to Nepal.

He said that the recent decision of the government to launch rescue and chartered flights to bring home the stranded Nepalis was positive but “has failed to address the issue” of non-resident Nepalis.

Pant said non-resident Nepalis who have to come to Nepal for urgent work are facing problems as the government has not properly addressed their repatriation.

According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association, more than 1,00,000 Nepalis are still awaiting rescue in Middle Eastern countries.

Earlier, 51,441 people stranded in different foreign lands have been rescued, according to the NRNA.

They have been rescued through 327 flights from 30 different countries.
