Nepal’s COVID-19 tally hits 507 as 20 new cases confirmed

KATHMANDU: Nepal has reported 20 new coronavirus cases on Friday afternoon, the Ministry of Health and Population stated.

With the fresh cases, Nepal’s COVID-19 tally now stands at 507.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Spokesperson Dr. Bikash Devkota said new cases have been found in Banke, Baitadi, Dadeldhura and Morang and Kailali districts.

A total of 14 cases have been found in Banke, three in Kailali, one each in Baitadi, Dadeldhura and Morang, he said.

According to Spokesperson Dr. Devkota, the test conducted in the laboratory of Seti Provincial Hospital found that three men from Janaki village of Kailali were infected.

They are 19, 23 and 26 years old. According to the ministry, all the three are in the quarantine of Saraswati School.

Likewise, a 28-year-old man from Parashuram-10 in Dadeldhura has been confirmed to be infected. He is undergoing treatment at Dadeldhura Hospital.

Similarly, a 22-year-old man from Baitadi district has been found infected.

Similarly, laboratory tests at Bheri Hospital in Banke confirmed coronavirus infection in 14 people. They are men in the age group of 10 to 61 years. Similarly, a 41-year-old man from Morang has also been confirmed to have coronavirus infection, according to the ministry.

He added that 42,488 tests have been carried out through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method and 82,116 though Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) so far.

A total of 3,819 samples were tested in the last 24 hours through PCR.

As of Friday’s update, there are 27,829 people in quarantine. So far, there are 433 people in isolation across the country.

Earlier in the morning, 30 new coronavirus cases were confirmed that took the tally to 487.

Three persons have died so far from COVID-19 and 70 recovered in Nepal.
