Cabinet decides to amend constitution to include new map in emblem



KATHMANDU: A Cabinet meeting has decided to make amendments to the Constitution of Nepal.

The meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Friday decided to include the new revised map of Nepal in the coat of arms.

An amendment to the Constitution requires a two-third majority of the House. The meeting of the House of Representative is scheduled to resume on May 26.

The government had on Wednesday published Nepal’s updated map that included Lipu Lekh, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani.

With the inclusion of the territory in the map, Nepal’s territorial area has increased by 335 square kilometers.

The provision of coat of arms has been laid down in Schedule 3 of the Constitution of Nepal .

A parliament meeting to be held on May 26 is expected to amend the Constitution.
