KATHMANDU: On the day, the Ministry of Defense decided to buy medical supplies worth billions from China, the email of the Defense Secretary has been hacked.

The email of Defense Secretary Reshmi Raj Pandey has been hacked on the same day the Ministry decided to buy billions worth medical supplies from China.

Although the internet security system of the Ministry of Defense is regarded as one of the most-secure ones in the country, the email of defense secretary Pandey was hacked on Tuesday.

According to the Ministry sources, after a sudden hacking of his email, Secretary Pandey had informed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Ishwor Pokharel about the incident.

This hacking incident comes at a time when the Ministry of Defense and Nepal Army have been corresponding with the Chinese government and the Chinese Army has aroused concern as the confidential documents may reach wrong hands.

This has made the Ministry more alert such documents and correspondence.

Nepal Army had made its final decision of procuring health equipment worth Rs 2.26 billion on Monday.
