Kakarvitta witnesses effect of ‘People’s Curfew’ in India

KAKARVITTA: Nepal’s major transit point in the eastern belt of Nepal, Kakarvitta, remained totally quiet today due to the influence of people’s curfew observed in India in its bid to contain the spread of coronavirus infection.

The bordering town remained quite hushed as short-route transport service also came to a total halt.

People’s curfew was observed in India since Sunday morning at the call of India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Chairperson of Travel Association Jhapa, Netra Karki stated there was no people’s movement along the Nepal-India border on Sunday due to the curfew in India.

He said there was no inflow of people from India.

Meanwhile, the Nepali border security force tightened up security at the Kakarvitta entry point.
