Distribution of embossed number plates from March 13

KATHMANDU: The Department of Transport (DoT) is preparing to open applications for embossed number plates of the vehicles from the third week of March.

“Preparations are at the final phase and the applicants can file applications online from March 13”, said Gogan Bahadur Hamal, General Director of the DoT.

The embossed number plates for the vehicles had been distributed two years ago enabling people to watch details of vehicles online.

The government on August 21, 2017, had officially distributed embossed number plates. However, the distribution was halted after the Supreme Court (SC) issued an interim staying the distribution on February 22, 2018.

On December 13, last year, the SC scrapped the writ petition against the distribution of embossed number plates paying the wary for the DoT to distribution the same.
