Deuba urges govt to provide free treatment to COVID-19 patients

KATHMANDU: President of the main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged the government to provide free treatment to COVID-19 patients.

Deuba said that the government’s decision not to bear test and treatment charges of COVID-19 patients was objectionable and shameful.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Deuba said that the government was callous, reckless, and undutiful towards the people.

Deuba stressed the government’s need to implement primary health care without any condition as it is a constitutional and legal right of the citizens.

The statement said, “The government has taken a decision against the interest of the people, against democratic values, constitutional and legal system. The decision has demonstrated an utterly undemocratic character and is also contempt of the Supreme Court.”
