Case against NCP Chair duo added in list of postponed cases

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has decided to add the case related to the negligence of law filed against the incumbent Chairman duo of the ruling Nepal Communist Party in the list of postponed cases.

The single bench of SC held under Justice Tej Bahadur KC has decided to add it in the list of postponed cases citing the petitioners themselves overlooked the time limit set for hearing.

The supreme judiciary body has concluded the case itself is also outdated as the case filed against then chairman of CPN-UML and Maoist has lost relevance in the present context.

Chairmen of the then two leading parties had given the statement demanding the election of the House of Representatives and Province Assembly should be held on November 10, 2017, at any cost.

Then, a leader of Rastriya Janata Party who had been demanding the election of the House of Representatives and Province Assembly should be held separately had filed the case against them claiming their verdict was against the verdict of the Supreme Court and it was the contempt of the court.

Citing the petitioners have stopped abiding the time set for the court’s hearing, the court decided to send it in the list of postponed cases.
