NAWALPARASI: Madhyabindu hospital in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta East) has closed all services except for emergency following the detection of COVID-19 in a patient at the hospital.

A 40-year-old man of Kawasoti municipality-16 in the district who was admitted to the hospital on August 18 was tested positive for the infection on August 21. The infection has been kept in an isolation ward of the hospital, said the hospital’s medical superintendent Dr. Sunil Raj Gautam.

“All doctors, health workers and other staff at the hospital, who came in contact with the infected, are required to get tested for the virus and the hospital should be disinfected. So services have been closed,” he said.

Swabs of the hospital staff who came in contact with the infected would be collected on August 24, and hospital services would be closed until their reports come, he said.

Of 384 infection cases in the district, 330 have got over the virus, said Keshab Chapagain, chief of the health office, Nawalpur. Ninety-six suspected people have been kept in quarantine facility across the district and 54 in isolation, he said.
