NRA to organize four-day virtual symposium

KATHMANDU: The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), the post-quake reconstruction body, will be organizing a virtual symposium beginning from August 24 to share its experiences, successful practices and learning of the past five years. The state-owned body was established after the 2015 April earthquake.

The four-day event will be bringing people from several bodies and partner organizations involved in Nepal’s reconstruction and restoration efforts, related experts and people including survivors together for the discussion.

As said by NRA executive member and international conference organizing committee secretariat’s coordinator Dr Chandra Bahadur Shrestha, the event aims to discuss success, achievements and weaknesses in the rebuilding and restoration efforts and develop a common understanding on the matters.

The NRA plans to organize the international conference coming November to apprise the international community about its experiences and learning in the given area.

Six research papers focused on six thematic sectors: private housing and reconstruction, rebuilding of public and social infrastructure, rebuilding of cultural heritages, livelihood, rescue and relief; and good governance the agenda of discussion in the meeting.

A total of 60 research papers on the above mentioned topics are being presented in the session.
