Vehicular movement disrupted as road depresses



SINDHUPALCHOWK: Vehicular movement along the Araniko Highway has been disrupted after the road depressed at Balephi following incessant rainfall.

Chief of District Police Office, Madhav Prasad Kafle, informed that the road was depressed at Balephi-5.

Heavy vehicles are now disallowed on the road and light vehicles are operated with one-way passage.

It has direct impact on travel of those from Sindhupalchok, Dolakha and Ramechhap districts.

However, efforts are underway to resume two-way transport with the help of local level, Kafle added.

The Jure-Tatopani section of Araniko Highway has been damaged in several places due to landslides and floods, but the road office has not intensified the works to repair and reconstruct the damaged road.

Although an excavator was provided by the road office Charikot, it stopped functioning, thereby halting road repair, according to Chief of Bahrabise Municipality, Nimphuo Sherpa.
