Nepal’s COVID-19 tally stands at 9,561 with 535 new cases

KATHMANDU: Nepal has reported 535 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours.

The Ministry of Health and Population stated that with the addition of the cases, Nepal’s tally has reached 9,561 as of Monday afternoon.

Among the newly-infected, 461 are males and 74 female said Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam speaking at a regular press briefing this afternoon.

According to Spokesperson Dr. Gautam, 10 people tested positive for coronavirus at Koshi Hospital, seven tested positive at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Biratnagar, 11 tested positive at Gajendra Narayan Singh Laboratory and 13 tested positive at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Janakpur.

Similarly, coronavirus infection was found in 283 people at the National Public Health Laboratory, Teku, 21 people at the Bharatpur Hospital Laboratory, 42 people at the Dhulikhel Hospital Laboratory and 12 people at the Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences, Pokhara.

A total of 20 people tested positive at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Pokhara, 103 tested at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Rupandehi and 13 tested positive at the Rapti Health Science Academy in Dang.

Meanwhile, 370 COVID-19 patients — 338 male and 32 female — have been discharged from different hospitals in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus. With this, 2,142 have been discharged across the country so far.

In the last 24 hours, 6,198 samples have been tested through PCR, said Spokesperson Dr. Gautam.

According to him, 181,371 samples were tested through the PCR and 268,103 through the RDT so far.

At present7,789 people are in isolation and 90,730 are in quarantines across the country.

Nepal has not reported any new death in the past 24 hours. Nepal’s death toll stands at 23.
