COVID-19 infects over 9 million people across world



KATHMANDU: More than 9 million people have been infected with the coronavirus pandemic which has been spreading across the world for the past five and a half months.

A total of 130,254 new cases were reported globally in a single day as of Monday morning. With this, total cases have reached 938,809 worldwide.

The number of deaths worldwide in the last 24 hours is 3,338, taking the number of deaths to 469,604. A total of 4.8 million have recovered while 3.7 million are undergoing treatment.

Coronavirus has killed 187,626 people in European countries. European countries had witnessed 2.3 million cases and 1.2 million have recovered so far.

A total of 153,944 people have died in North American countries. The number of infections has reached 2.7 million. Of them, 1.2 million have been declared infection-free.

Similarly, 48,256 people have died in Asian countries. Out of 1.9 million people infected, 1.2 million have recovered and at least 71,491 people have died in South American countries. Of the 1.7 million infected, 959,558 have recovered.

In African countries, 8,148 people have died and 309,153 have been infected. Out of the infected, 148,827 have won their fight against coronavirus.

At least 124 people have been killed in Oceania and Australia. Of the 9,079 infected, 8,485 have recovered from the deadly virus.
