When a huge artificial lake created in Arun River …



SANKHUWASABHA: A huge artificial lake has been created after the monsoon-induced landside blocked the Arun River.

The lake was created after a landside occurred in ward number 2 and 5 in Makalu rural municipality on Sunday morning. According to District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, a family inhabiting near the bank of the river has been shifted to a safe area.

The landslide has displaced seven family members of Prakash Rai. A landslide that came down from 700 meters above has created a dam. Now the water of the artificial lake is gradually releasing, said DSP Nawa Raj Malla.

Local administrations of Sankhuwasabha, Bhojpur and Dhankuta had cautioned the human settlements after the huge lake was formed in the Arun River.
