Govt revises Award Regulations

KATHMANDU: The government has revised the Award Regulations of honoring people with medals.

The decision has been made following criticisms from all walks of life about the selection of the candidates receiving the medals on various occasions.

From next time onwards, the government will provide medals to only 200 people.

According to Home Secretary, Maheswor Neupane, the cabinet meeting held last week made the decision to this effect.

It should be recalled that the government on the Constitution Day last year, had awarded medals to 634 persons—several of them without any contribution to the state and the society.
