Leader Nepal calls for unity in NCP

KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and Nepal Communist Party (NCP) senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has urged unity in his party and demanded that all in the party become sensitive about maintaining the unity in the party amid such a challenging time in the country.

In a press statement released by Nepal on the 71st establishment Day of the Nepal Communist Party here Tuesday, leader Nepal has viewed that only a strong and unified political party could lead a sea-change in the country and fulfill the responsibilities entrusted by the government.

Nepal asserted that it was a serious responsibility of both the leader and cadres to further consolidate the NCP’s merger forged two years ago by learning lessons from the split of the parties in the past.

“The NCP’s responsibility has increased at a time when the country was facing a huge challenge. The mandate given by public to the winning party in the election held after the promulgation of the constitution was for prospering the country and ensuring social justice,” the press statement reads.

Stating that the mandate was also given to the party to further strengthen Nepal’s national independence, indivisibility, sovereignty and national dignity, the leader has requested all leaders and cadres of the NCP to contribute from their side to take forward the party in consensus, understanding and rule of law.

He has also spoken of the need for all leaders, cadres in his party that is leading the incumbent government as well as the members of the public to be united in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also appealed to one and all to comply with the stay-at-home order enforced by the government to contain the spread of the deadly infection.
