One more person tests positive for COVID-19 in Nepal

KATHMANDU: One more person has been infected with COVID-19 in Udayapur district.

Speaking at the press briefing on Tuesday, Dr Bikash Devkota, spokesperson at Ministry of Health and Population said that a 33-year old man is infected with the pandemic coronavirus.

With this case from Udayapur again, the number of infected people in Nepal has reached 32.

The person is undergoing treatment at the Biratnagar-based Koshi Provincial Hospital.

The ministry has also executed the contact tracing of the infected persons.

“The coronavirus test of suspected persons is undergoing in Birgunj and Udayapur” Dr Devkota said, “221 persons in Birgunj and 320 people in Udayapur have been tested through the PCR technology.”

The Ministry has carried out RDT test in these places.

Out of 32 confirmed cases in Nepal, 4 have been discharged after recovery while 28 cases are still active.

According to Spokesperson Devkota, 36,719 people have been tested so far in which 8,763 people have been tested through PCR technology whereas 27,956 people have been tested through RTD technology.

Provincially, 2,620 persons have been tested in Province 1,  whereas 3,598 in Province 2, and over 5,157 persons are tested in Bagmati Province. Similarly,  the test of 4,183 in Gandaki Province, 2,483 in Province 5, over 3,738 persons in Karnali Province, and 6,177 in Sudur Paschim Province has been completed till today.

Only 36,719 people have been tested in Nepal till now.

Spokesperson Devkota offered the province was details of the people tested for corona virus. According to him, 8763 people have been tested through PCR technology while 27,956 people have been tested through RTD.
