Police destroy 17 thousand liters illegal liquor

MAHOTTARI: The Mahottari Police have launched a campaign of destroying illegal liquor shops in the district after people started gathering at these places in spite of the lockdown.

In this connection, the Police destroyed 17 thousand litres of home-made liquor at local Meghnath Gorahanna of Bhangaha-7 on Monday evening.

A joint police patrol team from the Sitapur, Aurahi and Jamuniya police posts demolished four makeshift breweries producing the home-made liquor.

The police squad also confiscated raw materials for producing alcohol, three thousand litres of brewed liquor and the utensils used for brewing alcohol from the four illegal makeshift breweries.

It may be recalled here that 15 people had died after consuming hooch at Ramdaiya Basti of Kshireshwor Municipality in Dhanusha district last month. Ramdaiya Basti adjoins Bhangaha.
