KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepali Journalists, an umbrella organization of Nepali journalists across the country, has demanded that media houses make arrangements for media-persons to work from houses amid coronavirus crisis.

A FNJ central committee meeting on Saturday urged media outlets to create a safe environment for journalists and manage salary in time, said FNJ General Secretary Ramesh Bista.

The government should manage transportation and facilities like internet, telephone, electricity and other essential equipment for journalists at a concessional rate, he said.

The meeting urged media houses to disseminate authentic and informative contents against the virus. The FNJ would play its role in fighting the virus, said Bista.

The federation has also decided to form a monitoring committee to help create an environment to disseminate authentic and informative contents and check misinformation relating to the infection, he said.

Members of the monitoring committee are FNJ Chair Gobinda Acharya, Vice-Chair Bipul Pokharel and Dilip Thapa and General Secretary Bista.
