Int’l conference in November to share reconstruction experience

KATHMANDU: The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has decided to hold an international conference coming November to share Nepal’s achievements and experience of reconstruction after the 2015 earthquake.

The international conference organizing committee is chaired by NRA Chief Executive Officer, Sushil Gyawali. Even a five-member secretariat has been formed under the coordination of a member of the NRA executive committee.

Member secretary of the secretariat, who is also the Spokesperson of the NRA, Manohar Ghimire, said they had held workshops relating to the reconstructions of private houses, cultural and archaeological heritage, public building, livelihood and financial rehabilitation, institutional and financial management and rescue and relief distribution after the disaster.

At the final workshop organized in the federal capital on Tuesday, NRA CEO Gyawali informed that NRA was holding the international conference to share its experiences, skills, documentation and weaknesses as well.

Although the NRA Act has the provision of reconstruction funds, it was not implemented. If it was implemented, reconstruction drive could gain pace,” he added.
