Time has come to sort out pending issues, PM Oli tells Modi



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that time has come to resolve the pending issues between Nepal and India through diplomatic consultations.

Inaugurating the Integrated Customs Post through video conference today, the PM said that mutual relations between Nepal and India have reached a new high and time has come to translate the issues of mutual consensus and partnership into ‘action’.

Saying that concerned minister and ministry will finalize such lists for this, PM Oli stressed to promote mutual cooperation since Nepal and India are close neighbors geographically and culturally since history.

On the occasion, PM Oli also recalled the joint inauguration of Motihari- Amlekhgunj Petroleum Pipeline Project and Integrated Checkpoint in Birgunj.

During his speech, he thanked the Government of India for extending support for the reconstruction drive of quake-hit properties and the private buildings in Gorkha and Nuwakot districts.

Similarly, the PM thanked his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi for wishing his speedy recovery by expressing concerns towards his health and also informed Modi that his health condition was improving.

Furthermore, PM Oli re-extended his invitation to Modi for Nepal visit while saying that he was ready to welcome Modi in Nepal.

In response, Indian PM Modi said that the integrated customs point was a symbol of high-speed development of the two countries and this shall help improve connectivity and facilitate the tasks.

Modi also said that an integrated checkpoint would be developed in any other site.

Likewise, the Indian Prime Minister said he will certainly visit Nepal in the year 2020.

“I will make an arrangement to visit Nepal this year. I will certainly pay a visit to Nepal and Nepalis,” he added.
