HoR election: EC intensifies voter education program

KAHTMANDU: With 24 days remaining until the election, the Election Commission (EC) has stepped up its voter education campaign to better inform the electorate.

The Commission is actively disseminating voter awareness materials through digital platforms to educate voters about their rights and guide them on how to correctly cast their ballots. According to the Commission, the program aims to provide accurate and reliable information while reducing the number of invalid votes.

To extend digital awareness efforts to the grassroots level, the Commission has approved and begun implementing a special voter education program. Under this initiative, one volunteer will be mobilized in each ward of every local level.

Volunteers will be selected from among child development facilitators, maternal and child health workers, female community health volunteers, or community learning center operators, with the selection process coordinated through the respective election offices.

The Commission has also reached agreements with state-owned media and regulatory bodies to produce and disseminate voter education materials effectively. Agreements have already been signed with the Rastriya Samachar Samiti, Public Service Broadcasting Nepal, Gorkhapatra Corporation, the Advertisement Board, and the Press Council Nepal.

The Election Commission believes that effective voter education will help voters better understand voting procedures and symbols, identify misinformation, and contribute to conducting free, fair, and credible elections.
