All-party meeting convened by NC underway at Sanepa

KATHMANDU: An all-party meeting convened by the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) after Prime Minister KP Oli dissolved the Parliament has started at Sanepa.

Executive Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal have reached the NC’s central office in Sanepa to participate in the meeting.

Leaders of Janata Samajwadi Party are also attending the meeting.

As soon as Prime Minister Oli dissolved the Parliament on Sunday, the leaders of the three parties came together and decided to protest together against Oli’s move.

NC Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma said that today’s meeting will discuss how to protest against Prime Minister Oli’s move.

Prachanda-Nepal faction and opposition parties are dissatisfied with Prime Minister Oli following the dissolution of the parliament.

They have taken strong exception to the Prime Minister’s move to dissolve the parliament terming it ‘unconstitutional, anti-democratic and against the mandate of the people’.

An emergency meeting called at Baluwatar by Prime Minister Oli on Sunday recommended the President to dissolve the parliament.

President Bidya Bhandari dissolved the parliament at the recommendation of the cabinet meeting and announced the fresh date for the mid-term poll on April 30 and May 10, 2021.
