Bandana Rana nominated to UN High Commission for Population Fund

TEXAS: Women’s rights activist and media person Bandana Rana has been nominated to the United Nations High Commission for Population Fund.

She is the former chairperson of the National  Commisssion for Women.

This commission had been formed to implement the decisions made in the International Conferecne on Population and Development held in Nairobi last year.

The high-level commission comprised of 28 members will be chaired by former President of Tanzania Zakaya Kikwete and 27th governor of Canada General Michaëlle Jean.

The commission has members ranging from the former head of the state to the activists and youths.

It is learnt that the commission will monitor the implementation of 1,250 commitments expressed  in Nairobi conference.
