Joe Biden accepts Democratic presidential nomination

WASHINGTON: Joe Biden has formally accepted the Democratic presidential nomination, a position he has sought for more than 30 years and through three White House bids.

His running mate, California Senator Kamala Harris has already accepted the Vice Presidential nomination.

Biden has served three decades as a Senator from Delaware before being tapped as President Barack Obama’s Vice President.

Biden first ran for President in 1988 and tried again in 2008.

It should be noted that US President Donald Trump will formally be re-nominated as Republican candidate during the virtual Republican National Convention next week.

The US general election is just 75 days away.
