NA mobilizes trained personnel for disaster response



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army (NA) has shared that its 1000 trained personnel equipped with necessary rescue materials are being immediately engaged in the task of relief and rescue operations in 16 districts across the country.

The districts have been hit hard by floods, landslides and inundation due to incessant rain for a couple of days.

NA spokesperson Santosh Ballav Poudel said the army personnel have been involved in the search for the disappeared in the landslides, rescuing the people facing inundation, removing the debris from the roads/highways and building embankment for the preservation of settlements along the banks of the swollen rivers.

The army has arranged mobilization of its human resource along with rubber boats and equipment in Pokhara, Bardibas, Itahari, Chitwan, Bharatpur, Gajuri and Rautahat for the immediate rescue of the people facing floods, landslides and inundation.

The NA has kept its human resource standby with a helicopter in Bharatpur, Surkhet and Itahari as its preparedness to reduce the potential loss of lives and properties due to natural calamities.
