Six COVID-19 cases in Nepal Police

50 kept in isolation all over the country



KATHMANDU: With 6 police personnel getting infected from the pandemic, the extending grip of the novel coronavirus has reached Nepal Police as well.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population sources, six members of Nepal Police have been infected with the wide-spreading pandemic.

With 2 new cases of infection in the Metropolitan Police Circle Kalimati on Wednesday, the number of infected cases in this security force has reached 6.

There are 214 people working in the Kalimati Circle. After finding the new cases, Nepal Police Headquarters has directed to take enough precaution against possible transmission.

According to DIG Niraj Bahadur Shahi, the spokesperson of Nepal Police, there have been two cases each in Kathmandu and Kapilvastu and one case each in Bara and Dhankuta.

He informed that the Headquarters has directed all offices to adopt security measures as per the protocols.

“We have sent PPE and masks to all offices and instructed all our members to take care of the risks whether at home, office or the field,” he said, “ if transmission occurs despite precaution, we will send the transmitted ones to the quarantine.”

He informed that the security force has arranged for the quarantine and isolation for its members provided they get such cases.

“We have made the provision of quarantine in office for those who rejoin the office after leave or transfer,” the spokesperson added.

According to the sources, there are around 50 police spending their time quarantine.
