Coronavirus death toll crosses 324,370 globally with over 4.9 mln infected

KATHMANDU: With Coronavirus pandemic wreaking havoc across the world, the death toll from the novel virus has climbed to 324,371 after 4,406 died in the last 24 hours.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 92, 659 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 4,980,783 as of Wednesday morning.

Currently, 2,700, 083 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the world, of which 45, 440 are critical. Meanwhile, 1,956,329 have recovered after treatment.

America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 1,401 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 93, 382.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 18, 467 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,568,761.

Currently, 1,114, 226 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 17,246 are critical.  Meanwhile, 361, 153 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 28, 648 deaths followed by New Jersey and Massachusetts with 10, 591 and 5,938 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Likewise, the death toll in the United Kingdom (UK) from Coronavirus pandemic has reached 35, 341 after 545 died in the last 24 hours.

With 2,412 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 248, 818 as of Wednesday morning. The condition of 1,559 is reported to be critical.

UK has performed tests on 2,772,552 people so far.

Similarly, Brazil has witnessed a surge in the deaths of people from Coronavirus of late. According to Worldometer, the death toll has reached 17, 971 after 1,118 died in the last 24 hours.

With 16, 260 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 271, 628 as of Wednesday morning.

Currently, 146, 863 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 8, 318 are critical. Meanwhile, 106, 794 have recovered after treatment.

India has reported 3, 302 deaths after 146 died in the last 24 hours. With 6,147 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 106, 475 as of Wednesday morning.

Currently, 60, 864 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country while 42, 309 have returned home after recovery. The India government has performed tests on 2,404,267 people for Coronavirus so far.

Similarly, Russia has surpassed Spain in terms of infection cases with 299, 941, becoming the second highest country after America in the world.

According to Worldometer, 9, 263 people were infected in the last 24 hours. With 115 new deaths, the death toll has reached 2, 837 in Russia.

Currently, 220, 974 Coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 2, 300 are critical. Meanwhile, 76, 130 have returned home after treatment.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 213 countries including two international conveyances across the world.
