Windstorm damages banana plantation in Chitwan

CHITWAN: Banana plantation in Chitwan has been damaged by windstorm on Saturday evening, incurring other damages worth over Rs 10 million.

The gale damaged banana planted in Kalika, Ratnanagar, Rapti municipality and Piple which are some of the pocket areas for banana farming.

According to farmers, the heavy storm damaged banana trees cultivated in the western Chitwan.

Farmers were now worried about paying the bank loan obtained for banana farming.

Former president of Banana Farmers’ Association Bishnu Hari Panta stated that the exact detail of the damage was awaited as they were collecting and compiling the data.
