KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leaders have initiated efforts to end the ongoing intra-party rift in the party.

Leaders, including NC vice president Bimalendra Nidhi, and leaders Prakash Man Singh and Krishna Sitaula on Monday held a meeting at the party central office in Sanepa to thrash out differences among the senior party leaders.

While Nidhi represents the establishment faction led by party President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Prakash Man Singh is in the faction of Ram Chandra Poudel, who is also the party’s senior leader. Sitaula, meanwhile, leads another faction.

According to a party source, even though the meeting proved to be fruitful to narrow down the differences, they could not come to a decision.

The leaders have also decided to meet again ‘soon’.
