Three armed police personnel injured in clash during raid on illegal warehouse in Birgunj



BIRGUNJ: Three armed police personnel were injured on Monday during a clash with smugglers while raiding an illegal warehouse in Adarshanagar, Birgunj Metropolitan City–10.

According to DSP Shailendra Thapa, co-spokesperson of the Armed Police Force (APF), the raid targeted the home of Madan Prasad Gupta, which was being used as an unlawful storage site for clothing.

The operation was carried out jointly by APF Nepal No. 13 Battalion Parsa, the Birgunj Border Security Unit, and the Birgunj Customs Office. Authorities seized illegal clothing worth approximately Rs 500,000 during the raid.

Following the seizure, the smugglers reportedly attacked the police team with stones and other objects. During the incident, one APF van and one SUV were damaged, while three personnel sustained minor injuries. Their condition is reported to be stable.

The confiscated items are now being processed and handed over to the concerned authorities, DSP Thapa added.
