Kathmandu Valley’s inflation increases 7.6 percent in five months: NRB



KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Valley has witnessed an inflation increment by an average of 7.60 percent in the past five months during the current fiscal year, 2076/77 as compared to 3.68 percent during the same period in the FY 2075/76.

The central bank said so according to five month’s data during the current FY, 2076/77 on the current macroeconomic and financial situation of Nepal released on by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).

Likewise, the Tarai witnessed 6.66 percent inflation, 5.27 percent in the Hills and 4.83 percent in Mountain as compared to 3.65 percent in the Tarai during the same period in the previous FY, 2075/76, 3.84 percent in the Hills and 4.05 in Mountain.

Similarly, export has increased 27 percent to Rs 47.62 billion from 12.7 percent in the previous FY, 2075/76.

The figure shows a 48.6 percent export increment to India, 6.2 percent to China and 3.2 percent to other countries.

Likewise, import has decreased 4.2 percent to Rs 581.2 billion as compared to 34.2 percent increment in the FY, 2075/76, while remittance inflow has increased 0.1 percent to Rs 376.9 billion from 31.9 percent.

The current account deficit has decreased to Rs 70.3 billion from Rs 119.3 billion from the FY, 2075/76.
