House dissolution recommended after “information of impeachment against President”

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has claimed that he was compelled to recommend the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) after he received information that the President was being impeached.

Baluwatar sources claimed PM Oli took the step after learning that the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) lawmakers were preparing to file an impeachment motion against President Bidhya Devi Bhandari with the signatures of one-third of the party lawmakers.

PM Oli informed this to President Bidhya Devi Bhandari during a meeting with her at the President’s Office in Shital Niwas on Sunday afternoon.

According to the provision in the Constitution, the President will be suspended if 25 percent of the lawmakers sign the impeachment motion and registered in the parliament.
