Driving license exams to resume after nine months

KATHMANDU: The government is preparing to resume the examination process for a new driving license that has been suspended for the past nine months.

The Department of Transportation Management under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport had postponed the written and trial examinations for the license after the government had enforced a nationwide lockdown on March 24 to stem the spread of the coronavirus.

Although the transport offices have been delivering other services, the service related to the new driving license has not been resumed yet.

The department, however, said that the risk of coronavirus still persists and is preparing to open the application by setting a quota.

The department has written to all the offices to be ready for the examination. The department has said to be ready with the provision of PPE, face shield, mask, sanitizer, etc. for the protection from coronavirus infection.
