KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army (NA) organized a farewell program in honor of Deputy Prime Minister and outgoing Minister for Defense Ishwor Pokharel.

At a function held at the Nepal Army Headquarters, Chief of Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa thanked the Ministry of Defense and NA for initiating the reform work under the leadership of Pokharel during his three-year tenure.

Stating that Pokharel’s tenure at the Ministry has brought ease and simplicity to the Ministry’s work, Thapa said that his leadership was critical in achieving many achievements.

At the farewell function, Chief of Army Staff Thapa also handed over a memento to the outgoing Defense Minister.

On occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Pokharel recalled the role played by the national army in rescue and relief during national disasters during its tenure as the Minister of Defense, its role in the response, prevention, and control of COVID-19 and other important development works.
