NCP Secretariat agrees, in principle, to reshuffle cabinet

KATHMANDU: A Secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) held at Perisdanda has decided in principle to reshuffle the cabinet, party Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha said.

The  Secretariat meeting was called to implement the decisions of the Standing Committee (SC) meeting held recently.

“The meeting discussed in detail about cabinet reshuffle, making the government’s performance more effective, among others issues,” Shrestha told reporters after the meeting.

He, however, said the names of the ministers did not figure out during the meeting.

According to him, the meeting will continue tomorrow as well.

Likewise, today’s meeting also discussed the appointments in the Constitutional bodies.

Likewise, the meeting has also proposed regular financial assistance to the party central committee members and whole-timers.

Shrestha said that the issue of financial assistance to whole-time party cadres was also discussed in today’s meeting.

Chairman duo Prime Minister KP Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal in a meeting on Wednesday had set the date for the Secretariat meeting.

The SC meeting held on September 11 had made decisions on various issues including the government’s performance, party organization, general convention of the party, border disputes, Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), terms of reference of two chairmen, coronavirus control and prevention among others.

The meeting also dwelt on the implementation of these decisions, Shrestha said.

The Secretariat meeting took place at Perisdanda in Koteshwor, the central party headquarters of the then CPN (Maoist Center).

NCP held its meeting at Perisdanda for the first time following the unification between the two communist parties.
