Over 6,700 security personnel diagnosed COVID-19 positive so far



KATHMANDU: A total of 6,705 security personnel of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force (APF) and Nepal Army (NA) have contracted the coronavirus so far.

Among them, a NA soldier has succumbed to the pandemic.

So far, the highest number of coronavirus cases 3,626 has been seen in personnel of Nepal Police. Of them, 1,809 have been discharged.

There are 263 active cases at Nepal Police Headquarters, 681 in Kathmandu Valley, 168 in Province 1, 169 in Province 2, 137 in Bagmati Province, 153 in Gandaki Province, 110 in Province 5, 48 in Karnali Province and 88 in Sudurpaschim Province.

NA Spokesperson Santosh Ballav Poudel that 2,056 NA personnel have been infected with the coronavirus so far. Of them, 1,654 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals, while 401 have recovered and joined duties.

Similarly, corona infection has been detected in 1,023 personnel of the Armed Police Force. Of them, 670 have been discharged while others are undergoing treatment.
