Police forcefully take Dr. KC to hospital

JUMLA: Police on Saturday night forcibly took Dr. Govinda KC, who is on a hunger strike in Jumla demanding improvement in medical education, to hospital.

Mahendra Karki, an aide of Dr. KC, said that he was forcibly taken to Karnali Institute of Health Sciences by police at around 11:45 pm.

The law enforcement agency clarified that Dr. KC was taken to the hospital after doctors expressed concern over his deteriorating health condition.

The doctors monitoring his health had suggested that Dr. KC be taken to the hospital on Saturday afternoon, which he had refused.

Dr. KC said that he would not receive any treatment as he was ‘abducted’ by police.

Dr. KC has been on the 19th hunger strike in Jumla for seven days demanding improvement in the country’s health and medical education.
