Complaint lodged aginst Sarita Giri demanding her arrest

KATHMANDU: A complaint has been lodged at the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, demanding action against lawmaker of Samajwadi Party Sarita Giri.

Advocates Santosh Bhandari, Sujan Nepal and Nawaraj Pandey have filed the case against Giri arguing that she expressed views against Nepal’s sovereignty, national and territorial integrity, said DSP Raj Kumar KC, the Spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Range, Teku.

Giri was the only lawmaker who tabled a proposal at the parliament secretariat against the Constitution Amendment Bill.

The complainants have demanded that she should be charged with treason in line with the Section 49 (5) of the National Civil (Code) Act, 2074 BS.
