236 Nepalis returning home from Korea today



KATHMANDU: As many as 236 Nepalis will be leaving for home from South Korea today.

Their visa term expired and were waiting for their return. Korea Air’s chartered flight KC 9695 is scheduled to leave for Nepal.

The Nepali Embassy in Seoul had facilitated to make sure the flight for those Nepalis to return home.

Among those returning home, 15 are facing police detention on the charge of illegal stay while 36 are sick and pregnant women.

Some of them have been rendered jobless due to COVID-19 crisis, according to Non Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Korea’s general secretary Bimal Subedi.

Each passenger has been charged around Rs 85,000 for the ticket.

They will be required to mandatorily stay in 14-day quarantine upon reaching Nepal and bear all expenditures required to reach home following the quarantine stay.

Likewise, several other Nepali citizens are also waiting for their return.
