KATHMANDU: The government has decided to allow public health institutions to conduct paid Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests for coronavirus.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Dr. Bikash Devkota said that the tests will be allowed in compliance with the criteria set by the National Public Health Laboratory and confidentiality of the information and mandatory reporting.

He said that the public institutions recognized by the laboratory can perform RDT and PCR tests at the prescribed rate on local and foreign nationals who do not have any symptoms.

He said that the rate will be decided by the institute according to its own criteria. He believes this will increase the scope of testing.
