Nepalis stranded in border area provided food

BHADRAPUR: As many as 35 Nepalis, who had been stranded after Indian authorities brought them near the Nepal-India border, have been provided with meal in the border areas from the Jhapa Rural Municipality.

According to Chairman of Jhapa Rural Municipality Jaya Narayan Sah the Nepalis were left at Lasuna of the municipality’s ward no. 1 near the border by taking them in a bus from Kisangunj, India.

Those Nepalis working in different sectors in the Indian cities had gathered in Kisangunj after travelling in rails.

Chairman Sah said that those hungry Nepalis including 25 from Jhapa district itself were provided with water and noodles on Monday evening and meals this morning.

Sah said they would be sent to the holding center prepared by the District Coronavirus Control and Coordination Committee.

Thirty-two Nepalis had entered Nepal through the same border point just two days ago.

Of them, some have been kept under quarantine while others have gone to their respective hometowns.

Furthermore, 64 more Nepalis have arrived along the Nepal-India border area of Kachankabal Rural Municipality this morning.

Ten of them are from Pathamari village and 54 from Kechana. Chief District Officer of Jhapa Udaya Bahadur Ranamagar said, “We will immediately rescue those Nepalis arrived near border areas. We won’t let them return to India.”

It is said that over 1,000 Nepalis have been stranded in the border points after coming from Indian cities.

Furthermore, swabs of all individuals coming to quarantines on Saturday were collected and were sent to Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar.

Of them, reports of 10 individuals have already been received and one of the youths was tested positive for coronavirus on Monday.

Reports of 23 persons are awaited. Prior to this, two persons confirmed with coronavirus have returned home after their recovery.
