Death toll in America climbs to 91, 974

KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 996 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 91, 974.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 22, 340 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,550,004 as of Tuesday morning.

Currently, 1,102, 427 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 16,864 are critical.  Meanwhile, 355, 603 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 28, 480 deaths followed by New Jersey and Massachusetts with 10, 443 and 5,862 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 213 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 319,958 and infecting 4,887,  763 people as of Tuesday morning.
