18 Maldivians flown to Dhaka by Nepal Airlines



KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines (NA) has flown a total of 18 Maldivians stranded in Nepal to the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka on Sunday.

The narrow body A320 airplane flew to Dhaka from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), TIA Managing Director Devendra KC said.

The Maldivian government chartered the flight of the national carrier to rescue its citizen from Nepal stranded following the lockdown.

The government here ordered a nationwide lockdown to contain the outbreak of COVID-19. The aircraft which flew to Dhaka will return Kathmandu today itself.

The Maldivians will board a flight in a different aircraft from Dhaka to fly home. It is an hour long flight from Kathmandu to Dhaka.
