DDC milk restricted in Karnali Province

KOHALPUR: Karnali Province has imposed ban on the milk of the government-owned Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) in the province.

The decision of Karnali Province  to ban the milk of DDC has adversely impacted the farmers of Bardiya and Banke districts.

Withdrawing its ‘milk holiday’ in Banke and Bardiaya, DDC had tried its new market in Birendranagar, the Province Headquarter of Karnali Province.

According to DDC sources, when DDC’s vehicle was heading to Surkhet to sale 4,750 liters milk to Birendranagar based Surkhet dairy, the vehicle was stopped at Babai, the entry point of Karnali Province.

According to Yogendra Shah the project manager, DDC’s milk was stopped at the checkpoint at Babai claiming the province government had issued order not to let such vehicles enter.

“Although there no formal restriction on the locally produced agricultural products, unfortunately, the supply of milk is stopped,” Shah spoke disappointed.

The federal government has made it clear in the directives that all agricultural products and dairy related items are allowed to have an unrestricted movement throughout the country.

Shah informed that he has reported the latest obstruction to the rapid response team meant to work out such complications.

DDC Kohalpur that had been collecting 13000 liters per day has reduced it to 6,000 liters per day after lockdown.
